The Merowe hydropower station in Sudan is invested and constructed by the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources of Sudan. It is located in the northern province of the Republic of the Sudan, 350km away from Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, and 27km away from the Nile River in the north east of Karima city. Its main purpose is to generate electricity and irrigation, with an installed capacity of 1250MW.

Chengdu Xinghua Engineering Service Co., Ltd. will participate in the project construction.
